February 23, 2022

The FSC continues to engage with regulators, policy makers and industry leaders to discuss pertinent issues relevant to the sector.

The FCS Regulation Committee resumed on 22 February and we were joined by Tom Simcock, MBIE to discuss MBIE’s agenda for 2022 and timings for key regulatory change and consultations. The February Taxation Committee will be hearing from several Policy Officials from Inland Revenue on various updates in the taxation space.

Current Consultations:
The Regulatory Committee together with other applicable FSC Committees and Working Groups continually produces a raft of submissions that enables FSC members to have their input on new or proposed regulatory changes. 2022 kicks off with:
The proposed New Zealand Income Insurance Scheme (NZIIS) consultation with submissions closing on 26 April 2022.
On Tuesday 22nd February the FSC hosted a workshop with Francis Van der Krogt, Amy Hamerton, Gerald Clark and Jivan Grewal from MBIE which was well attended by nearly 70 FSC members. MBIE provided an overview of NZIIS and answered many member questions on the proposed scheme. We are looking to hold a further session in the coming weeks so keep a look out for a FSC email to register your interest.
