The Financial Services Council (FSC) are delighted to welcome Kirk Hope as he commences his appointment as Chief Executive Officer today (18 September 2024).

Mr. Hope joins the FSC after nine years as CEO of BusinessNZ and looks forward to leveraging his strong policy and advocacy experience to represent the financial services sector and grow the financial confidence and wellbeing of New Zealanders.

Mr. Hope, CEO of the FSC, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to engage with FSC members and the sector, and support the ongoing work that was highlighted at the recent FSC24 Conference earlier this month.

"I look forward to collaborating closely with the sector, regulators, and government to accelerate momentum on strategic and policy initiatives that will benefit New Zealanders for generations to come," Mr. Hope stated.

He added, "the FSC membership is highly engaged, and I will be connecting with them to make meaningful progress on the key priorities that matter most."

Prior to joining BusinessNZ, Mr. Hope was CEO of the New Zealand Bankers' Association, Executive Director of the Financial Services Federation and held a range of senior positions at Westpac, including Head of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs.

He holds a master’s degree in law, focused on regulation of financial services, and an honours degree in political science.
