Media Advisory: Outlook 2024 with Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and Chief Executive of FMA

Written by The FSC team | January 23, 2024

WHAT:

The Financial Services Council (FSC) invites media to Outlook 2024 at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland, where the new Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Hon. Andrew Bayly will make his inaugural address to the financial services sector.

The Chief Executive of the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) Samantha Barrass will also deliver an address, followed by a panel of leading Chief Economists.

The event welcomes FSC members, financial services industry professionals and media to network with their peers and gain insights to help inform their direction for a significant period of change for the sector and country.

Minister Bayly will be sharing his priorities and vision in his new role, as well as the focus of the new Government over the next three years.

The FMA's Chief Executive Samantha Barrass will then give a keynote on the expansion of the FMA’s mandate and any changes as a result from the new Government in 2024.

The FSC looks forward to collaborating closely with the Government and the regulators to drive change in financial wellbeing this year, as we work toward policy-led action for the industry and New Zealanders.

Following the FMA update, we look forward to a Chief Economist panel with the top economists in the country providing commentary and debate on the global and regional economy. Panelists include Craigs Investment Partners’ Investment Director Mark Lister, ANZ’s Chief Economist Sharon Zollner and CoreLogic NZ’s Chief Economist Kelvin Davidson.
