As part of the FSC's ongoing engagement with external stakeholders, we joined the University of Otago's recent COVID and Work Symposium on 23 February 2023.

FSC CEO Richard Klipin joined one of the panel sessions titled Occupational Support: New ways of being and doing

His presentation focussed on the industry approach to Long COVID and the role of private insurers in supporting New Zealanders experiencing this novel condition.

He joined panellists Ben Teusse (Chief Executive, Habit Health), Dr. Nicola Emslie (Doctor, Middlemore Hospital), Rachael Grady (Occupational Therapist, Te Whatu Ora Taranaki), Fy Dunford (Cardiorespiratory (CR) Physiotherapist), Tamara Devcich (Health, Safety and Wellness Advisor at Sistema Plastics) and Matire Harwood (Head of the Department of General Practice and Primary Care at Auckland Medical School).

This engagement followed a panel discussion the FSC held at our annual conference in 2022 focussing on Long COVID, which included Emeritus Professor Warren Tate (Department of Biochemistry, University of Otago), Dr. Lloyd McCann, (CEO of Mercy Radiology and Clinics) and Dr. Brett Cowan, Chief Scientist and GM Research at Institute of Environmental Science and Research Limited (ESR). The conversation was facilitated by Kerry Boielle from Southern Cross Health Society.
