'Change how you think and feel about money' was the theme of a recent joint event with Empower Women and Southern Cross' Gather network.
In a powerful and thought-provoking session led by Angela Meyer, co-founder of Hi Money and Project Gender, we unpacked the emotional, cultural, and practical layers of how women engage with money. Angela guided us through confronting our money truths, breaking down long-held barriers, and building the confidence to have conversations that can truly transform our financial wellbeing.
To deepen the experience, we incorporated FSC’s Money Talks cards, which sparked meaningful reflection and open sharing among attendees. These simple yet powerful prompts helped us connect, challenge assumptions, and learn from one another.
A standout moment came from a video created by Yashri, featuring Ava and Aarya (aged 9 and 10). Their candid reflections and confidence in talking about money were both inspiring and humbling—a reminder that the next generation is already leading the way in normalising financial conversations.
The impact of the evening was clear: honest, thoughtful discussions that left us with fresh perspectives, practical takeaways, and the reassurance that money conversations don’t have to be uncomfortable. In fact, they can be empowering.
