De-jargoning Money with Te Ara Ahunga Ora, The Retirement Commission

Written by The FSC team | June 7, 2023

We're proud to spread the word about the De-jargoning Money campaign, a glossary of plain language for the financial sector developed by Te Ara Ahunga Ora, The Retirement Commission.

Te Ara Ahunga Ora, The Retirement Commission have launched their glossary of plain language for financial terms, tested with New Zealanders for the financial sector to use.

Who is it for?

The glossary is intended for financial service organisations to make understanding money easier for their customers and audience, with suggestions for other words that are better understood by New Zealanders.

The glossary covers everything from general terms for everyday banking and spending, lending and loans, insurance and estate planning, investment and KiwiSaver to ethical and sustainable investing.

The purpose of the glossary is to help demystify money for New Zealanders through consistent content throughout the sector, which is a key goal in the Te Ara Ahunga Ora, The Retirement Commission National Strategy for Financial Capability.
