FSC. Conference Day 2 Wrap

Day two at the FSC. Conference saw the ever-popular political pundits panel delivered a lively debate on the key issues. 

We hosted Nicola Willis and Christian Hawkesby, launched a new research report into financial resilience, and engaged different areas of the industry on relevant and thought-provoking topics at our various breakout sessions.

Nicola Willis, Deputy Leader of the National Party and Finance Spokesperson, addressed the room and answered questions from journalist Rachel Smalley. We then invited media to attend a standup to ask questions on the content of her speech.

Christian Hawkesby Regulatory keynote & fireside chat

 

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand's Deputy Governor Christian Hawkesby gave the day's regulatory keynote, before sitting down with New Zealand Herald Business Editor-at-large Liam Dann for some Q&A.

Growing the financial wellbeing of New Zealanders

 

Newstalk ZB's Hamish Williams facilitated Southern Cross Health Society CEO Nick Astwick, ANZ Managing Director Fiona McKenzie, Fidelity Life CEO Melissa Cantell and BNZ's Karna Luke in an engaging discussion about how the industry improves the financial confidence and wellbeing of consumers.

Head of Responsible Investment at ANZ Helen Skinner facilitated a debate about value for money and getting the best outcomes for NZ consumers as part of the KiwiSaver and Investments stream.

Retirement Commissioner Jane Wrightson, University of Auckland's Susan St John, CEO of BT Funds Management (NZ) Nigel Jackson and Kiwi Wealth CEO Rhiannon McKinnon discussed how we best prepare KiwiSaver investors for 2050 and what the FSC is doing in this area

Research launch: Financial resilience trends in NZ

 

For the past three years, the FSC has been collecting data on key financial resilience indicators including financial wellbeing, financial literacy, financial preparedness, job security and financial confidence.

We brought all of this research together to reveal shifts in how Kiwis have been feeling about their finances throughout the pandemic and afterwards during a time of enormous social and economic change. The research featured on Seven Sharp and NewstalkZB later in the day.
