LADUCA pathway for FSC. Conference 2022

 Follow the pathway designed for underwriters with the LADUCA team, the first breakout delves into the key issues surrounding underwriting in NZ and across the world, followed by a choice of a health or life insurance focused second breakout on Day 1 (21 September).

Main Plenary
9.00 - 9.30AM: Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson

In our first Political Keynote, we welcome Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson to give insights pre and post pandemic, and a look toward Aotearoa 2025. Following the presentation will be a fireside chat with political reporter Jack Tame, to delve deeper into the key issues.

 9.45 - 10.45AM: Panel Discussion
Climate and sustainability: The world on fire?

The climate emergency is now mainstream, and with world leaders agree targets to mitigate climate change, our panel will look at climate issues through different lenses.

 10.35- 10.50AM: Growing the financial confidence of New Zealanders

In this first Ted-style talk of the day, we reflect on the how the financial services community is working together to deliver the FSC vision and conference theme to grow the financial confidence of New Zealanders.

11.20 - 11.50AM Financial Markets Authority, Samantha Barrass

Outlook 2025 with FMA CEO Samantha Barrass, followed by a fireside chat with political reporter Jack Tame, to delve further into the key issues raised.

11.50AM - 12.40PM: Chief Economist Session: In turbulent times, what holds for the economy?

In this session, Chief Economists from across the sector will discuss the economic state of New Zealand and the world, reflecting on the challenges we face and debating the cost of living crisis, inflation, investments and the impacts they are having.

12.55 - 1.45AM

We invite LADUCA members to debate the top issues facing the underwriting community, including mental health, genetics, transgender and other emerging topics affecting this specialised sector.

1.45 - 2.45PM

Choose between two breakout sessions: 

Life insurance 2030: The global future of life Insurance - impacts, opportunities, challenges.

The future of life insurance: what's in store? In this session the panel will debate the future of life insurance from macro, international and strategic levels, including debating government proposals such as the recently proposed New Zealand Income Insurance Scheme (NZIIS). 

Health Insurance: Is the future of health artificial intelligence and 3-D?

Here, Professor Tim Woodfield, leader of the Christchurch Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering (CReaTE) Group at the University of Otago, will take attendees on a  journey of discovery into 3D Biofabrication and Additive Manufacturing of biomaterial scaffolds and titanium medical devices.

2.45 - 3.45PM: Is consumer change driving regulatory change? The impacts on consumers of global and regional regulatory change

In this joint life and health insurance panel, we debate what’s happening in regulation locally and globally, alongside the impact of regulation on consumers here and globally.

4.15 - 4.30PM: The Future of Health

Dr. Stephen Childs is the Chief Medical Officer at Southern Cross, and in this second spotlight, will shine a light on the future of the health system in New Zealand.

4.30 - 5.15PM

In our most highly rated sessions at past conferences, we invite to the stage the first of our two inspiration keynote speakers, to take us our of the financial services sector and challenge us to think more broadly.

We will then wrap up Day 1 by 5.15PM.
